Message Thanks ZXoltan,

I already know that it is a bad valve job... I have done what you suggested (which is injecting air through the spark-plugs while the cams have been removed; at this point all valves should be "sealed-shut" but I can hear lots of air escaping from the intake valves on cylinders #2 and #4). The valves do not appear to be "bent" - this basically leads me to believe that he didn't do a proper valve lapping on those two cylinders.

My question at this point is the following: "If the bad valves are repaired (at another 'local' machine shop), is a consistent 130psi on all cylinders acceptable?" Basically I am trying to figure-out if a pressure of 130psi across all 6 cylinders is 'ok'. To me a pressure of 130psi seems too low but then again I am not certain (this is far away from the preferred 174psi for a VGE30TT engine). I have already spent roughly $4,500 these last 8 months replacing a ton of stuff on my 300zx... I am trying to avoid burning through another $2,000 for a rebuild engine if I don't have to... :(
